A Haitian "trial strike" over a US 1825 1 Cent piece.

After some traveling (including attending the CICF convention) and work on non-numismatic topics, I am finally publishing some new material. At the CICF convention, two Haitian coins drew my attention. One is the subject of the present post, while the other (a 12 Centimes of the year 10 with the "P" initial under the coat of arms) will be discussed in a few days.

The coin presently discussed was described as a trial strike of (presumably) the Haitian Mint over a Us 1825 1 cent piece. It is indeed a trial strike, but of a rather different mint, as we will see:

Haiti copper trial strike.
